POE Advisory Group Description/Overview

Upstate Medicare Division Provider Outreach and Education (POE) Advisory Group

Medicare Provider Outreach and Education (POE) Advisory Groups are an extremely effective way to disseminate information to Medicare providers and, at the same time, an excellent means for obtaining feedback on carrier operations and Medicare issues from a Medicare provider perspective. The Upstate Medicare Division’s POE Advisory Groups have served as a productive source of suggestions for improvement in carrier relations with Medicare providers since 2000. In working toward this goal, we have established POE Advisory Groups in locations across New York state in the Albany and Syracuse areas, consisting of representatives from state medical societies, provider organizations, and billing staffs. These groups are involved in the selection of topics, types and/or locations for educational forums, and provide feedback to the Center for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) and the carrier regarding Medicare issues of importance to the provider community, as well as carrier performance.

Any interested, eligible representatives are encouraged to become members of the POE Advisory Group. If you would like more information regarding the Upstate Medicare Division’s POE Advisory Group, or if you wish to become a member, please contact Sharon Lovejoy at 607-766-6618 or via email at lovejoy.sharon@healthnow.org.

Membership is FREE and will be determined at the discretion of the Upstate Medicare Division.

POE Advisory Group Mission Statement

To facilitate communication between the Upstate Medicare Division and the provider community, through education and training, for the purpose of enhancing the Medicare program through a partnership of patients, providers and the Medicare contractor.
