The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) - CMS is the federal agency that administers the Medicare and Medicaid programs. From the CMS home page, you can access information regarding Medicare, Medicaid, SCHIP, HIPAA, CLIA, and more.

  • CMS CAP Web Site - Information regarding the Competitive Acquisition Program (CAP) for Part B Drugs and Biologicals, including a beneficiary fact sheet.
  • CMS DMEPOS Competitive Bidding Web Site - Information regarding the Durable Medical Equipment, Prosthetics, Orthotics, and Supplies (DMEPOS) Competitive Bidding Program.
  • CMS Enrollment Web Site - Medicare enrollment information for providers, physicians, practitioners, and suppliers of medical and health services.
  • CMS FAQs - A listing frequently asked questions (FAQs) covering a wide range of Medicare topics. FAQs on the CMS Web site are searchable by category and topic.

  • CMS Physician Quality Reporting Initiative (PQRI) - PQRI establishes a financial incentive for eligible professionals to participate in a voluntary quality reporting program. Eligible professionals who successfully report a designated set of quality measures on claims for dates of service from July 1 to December 31, 2007, may earn a bonus payment, subject to a cap, of 1.5 percent of total allowed charges for covered Medicare physician fee schedule services.

Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) - Visit this Web site for the most recent Health Professional Shortage Area (HPSA) designations. Please note that Medicare incentive payments are available only in geographic HPSAs. When viewing the HRSA Web site, the "Type" column will indicate whether the designation listed is a geographic area or other type of HPSA.

Island Peer Review Organization (IPRO) - IPRO's site contains information regarding health care quality review and improvement.

Medical Society Information and Links - The Medical Society of the State of New York has a comprehensive listing of medical societies in every county of the State, plus a listing of specialty-specific societies.

Medicare Contractor Provider Satisfaction Survey (MCPSS) Web Site - The MCPSS is funded by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). The purpose of the survey is to garner quantifiable data on provider satisfaction with the performance of Medicare Fee-for-Service (FFS) contractors. This Web site provides an overview of the survey, information regarding the administration of the survey, and access to the survey.

National Plan and Provider Enumeration System (NPPES) - This site provides information about the National Provider Identifer (NPI), including application information.

National Technical Information Service (NTIS) - This site provides information on the Correct Coding Initiative (CCI) and allows you to order CCI manuals and updates.

New York State Chiropractic Association (NYSCA) - The NYSCA Web site contains a variety of chiropractic information for the public, as well as clinical information for the health care professional. Information includes upcoming events for NYSCA members and chiropractic professionals, legislative activities, and more.

Office of Inspector General (OIG) - The OIG's site contains information on fraud detection and prevention, compliance guidelines, audits and investigations, reports, and publications.

Washington Publishing Company - Access the WPC Web site for code lists and various EDI and HIPAA information.

  • Remittance Advice Remark Codes and Claim Adjustment Reason codes - Remittance Advice Remark Codes and Claim Adjustment Reason Codes can be found on the Washington Publishing Company (WPC) Web site. These codes are used within the 835 Transaction to convey information about remittance processing or to provide a supplemental explanation for an adjustment.
