Medicare Participating Physician/Supplier Directory (MEDPARD)
The MEDPARD contains the names and addresses of physicians and suppliers who participate in the Medicare program. It covers the 45 upstate New York counties in UMD's jurisdiction. This directory was last updated in March 2008.
To see a list of participating providers in your area, you can click the name of a county in the County List below. This will show you the list of specialties in that county. Then click one of the specialties to show the listing of providers. You can also click the number/letter of the provider's name or business. This will show you an Alphabetical List of providers. Please note that some group providers are listed alphabetically by their first name.

Providers Who Have "Opted Out" of the Medicare Program - Private Contracts
Below is a list of physicians / practitioners in upstate New York who have decided to "opt out" of the Medicare program for a period of two years. As provided in section 4507 of the Balanced Budget Act of 1997, a "private contract" is a contract between a Medicare beneficiary and a physician or other practitioner who has "opted out" of Medicare for two years for all covered items and services he or she furnished to Medicare beneficiaries. In a private contract, the Medicare beneficiary agrees to give up Medicare payment for services furnished by the physician or practitioner, and to pay the physician or practitioner without regard to any limits that would otherwise apply to what the physician or practitioner could charge.
